2023 JSHA Selects Summer Program @ The Utah Olympic Oval 

We are excited to announce our first annual Summer Hockey Development Program!

Designed to provide extra development to the most committed hockey players in our area, this program's intent is to level the playing field for Utah hockey players and provide them with the skillset and confidence necessary for higher level competition.

Dates:  June 5th - June 30th, 2023

JSHA Summer Development Group Information:

    • 24 players in total per group (all groups are CO-ED this year)
    • Goalies - We have partnered with Parise Hockey. Please contact Jordan at parisehockey@gmail.com with any goalie program questions. 
    • On-Ice group will be split into 2 groups of 12 skaters according to skill level
    • Dryland & Synthetic hours will be combined
    • 1 coach per 6 skaters as consistently as possible
    • All athletes are expected to show up at least 15 minutes before practice. 
    • Every Friday will be a combined scrimmage for each age group

 

  • HIGH-SCHOOL (2008-2005 BIRTH YEARS):  
    • 3 hours of on-ice per week
    • 3 hours of dry-land training per week
    • 2 hours of synthetic space training per week
    • 15 minutes of video classroom per week

 

  • BANTAM (2010 & 2009 BIRTH YEARS): 
    • 3 hours of on-ice per week 
    • 3 hours of dry-land training per week
    • 2 hours of synthetic space training per week
    • 15 minutes of video classroom per week

 

  • PEEWEES (2012 & 2011 BIRTH YEARS): 
    • 3 hours of on-ice per week
    • 2 hours of dry-land training per week
    • 3 hours of synthetic training per week

 

  • SQUIRTS (2015 - 2013 BIRTH YEARS):
    • 3 hours of on-ice per week
    • 2 hours of dry-land training per week
    • 3 hours of synthetic training per week

 

  • Elite (18 & older): 
    • Invitation only
    • Monday-Thursday (every day)

  • 14 seasons of professional hockey (NHL;AHL;KHL; Europe)
  • 5 years of youth coaching experience (10U-18U, Junior, College, and Professional levels)
  • 1 year as Director of Development for Park City Ice Miners Youth Organization
  • 1 season as head high school coach for Park City High School (2021-2022)
  • Valley Sports Academy Hockey Director in Eau Claire, WI (2022)
  • Player development for Long Beach Sharks NA3HL
  • Player development for Provo Predators USPHL

 
MIKE ADAMEK

  • 4 years Division 1 college at Lake Superior State University

TRAINING DESCRIPTION:


Activities will vary according to age & skill level of groups:

Edgework: Evasive skating tactics, glide teaching, lateral-shaves, mohawks, mohawk transitions, fwd/bkwd transitions, stride mechanics

Puck-Control: edgework w/ puck, evasive puck-control tactics, wall-play maneuvers, puck protection, chest-to-chest battle tactics.

Shooting: 1-touch & 2-touch shooting with the puck and off of receptions, changing the angle, pre-shot movement, net-drives, goal-scoring insights, shooting mechanics

Passing: small area passing, sauce passing, passing off the heels, passing through the triangles, passing off of lateral movement, backhand receptions, 2-touch & 1-touch passing techniques, passing mechanics

Tactical Teaching: Offense At Puck (OAP); Defense At Puck (DAP); Offense Away from Puck (OAwP); Defense Away from Puck (DAwP). 2v1; 2v2; 3v2; in-zone or off of the rush (OLDER GROUP ONLY)

Cognitive: All the above placed in a small-area game setting. Restriction and Incentive-Based drills. Hockey-Awareness and space creation tactics. Provide the kids with the opportunity to apply what they have learned and figure out the puzzle on their own.
